Roles and Permissions

Which roles exist in Hostme, what each of them sees and does, and who can invite whom — from Owner to Kitchen.

In Hostme every staff member has a role that decides what they see and can change in the panel. Roles are assigned under Administration → Team. Sections and buttons a role can’t use simply aren’t shown — the interface adapts to the permissions.

Roles at a glance

  • Owner — full access to everything, including billing, the team and deleting the restaurant. Can give any role.
  • Manager — almost everything needed to run the restaurant: settings, guests, marketing, analytics, team, subscription. Changes anyone’s role except the Owner’s. Can’t delete the restaurant.
  • Host — works in the Host Panel. In the admin: the dashboard, guests and table blocking.
  • Kitchen — today’s bookings, tables and menu, view only.
  • Marketing — guests and segments, mailings and campaigns, messaging, events, online presence, loyalty and analytics except orders. Edits guests but doesn’t delete them. No dashboard — Campaigns opens on sign-in.
  • IT Support — integrations (Stripe included), messaging channels and templates, mailings, online presence. Doesn’t edit guests; no dashboard or analytics — Integrations opens on sign-in.

Marketing and IT Support work across the chain: they switch restaurants in the left menu and under Administration → Restaurants, but don’t add or delete them.

The “Support” role in a team is a Hostme employee: restaurants don’t hand it out.

1 Kitchen only sees today’s bookings and tables — without the pre-shift block and quick actions.

2 The section is hidden, but inside an event Marketing can use its booking and table settings.

3 Host only sees the “Blocked Tables” tab.

4 Host sees the Guest Book and Tags — no segments, auto-tags or settings; edits and deletes guests.

5 Marketing edits guests but doesn’t delete them.

6 All of analytics except the Orders and Waitlist tabs.

7 The list of the chain’s restaurants and switching between them — no adding or deleting.

8 They see the team and invite only into their own role.

Who invites whom and changes roles

  • Owner invites into any role and changes anyone’s role.
  • Manager invites Managers, Hosts, Kitchen, Marketing and IT Support, and changes anyone’s role except the Owner’s.
  • Host, Marketing and IT Support invite only into their own role and don’t change roles.
  • Kitchen doesn’t invite anyone.

The last Owner can’t be removed or given another role — make someone else Owner first. All of this lives under Administration → Team.
